Selling and Buying Artwork

All authorised participants with a valid digital wallet and available funds are allowed trending artworks on Monumental. Not only Monumental gives access to first and second market but allows users who are not creator to mint fine arts on behalf of artists.

As an authorised user, Monumental has been designed in a such way that wherever you are browsing on the platform you have the possibility to buy or sale any published artworks. Moreover, you are allowed to make a price offer on artworks that you desired even if those artworks are not available on sale. The owner of the artwork will have then the option to accept or decline your offer.

For NFT’s creator, Monumental guarantees that its royalties will be paid to him.

Important

It is important to understand that during selling and buying process, network fees will be applied during any transactions that will occur on the Ethereum blockchain.
During selling and buying processes, different states indicate the user how to proceed to finalise the action (buy, sale or make an offer) started.

This guide is intending to explain in a comprehensive manner how a user should perform the different actions offered to him during selling and buying processes.

Sale Smart Contracts generation

When launching a sale on standard or community edition, personal sale smart contracts are generated and are stored to the Ethereum blockchain officialising the on-going sale.
The smart contract becomes active.

This ensures that the transactions between the two different parties involved in the sale process is rapid, secured and seamless.

Upon receipt from the blockchain that the transaction has been approved, the smart contract becomes inactive.

From any future sale of this artwork, a new personal sale smart contract will be generated.

Available States during a Selling Process

There are two ways to sale an artwork (regardless whether it is a standard or community edition) on Monumental either as a Fixed Price Sale or as a Timed Auction Sale.

Information

In order to sale an artwork, you have to be the owner of the artwork you wish to sale and this artwork must be first published in a space.

Definitions

Fixed Price sale
The artwork is intending to be sold as a defined fixed price (set by the seller).

The buyer will accept the sales conditions when he will buy the artwork.

Timed Auction
The artwork is auctioned with a minimal basis price during a defined period (either 24 hours or a specific period of time set by the seller).
Buyers who want to participate to this auction, have the possibility to bid higher with a minimum of 10% on the indicated price by default.

Informations

  • An auction will be only visible on the portal page under the section “LIVE AUCTION” only if a first bid has been initiated by a potential buyer. In between the Auction is displayed on the portal page under the section “JUST LISTED”
  • Whenever a bid is placed during the last 10 minutes of the auction, an additional time of 10 minutes will automatically be added.

Once the auction is over, the highest bidder will be notified by mail that he won the bid. He will then be allowed to claim his new artwork under the sales condition set by the seller.

sDepending on how the owner of the artwork sales it, specific states during the sale process will be offered.
